A BURNLEY broadcasting talent is starting to create real waves in the radio industry.
Jordan North (21), who is from Burnley and studies at the University of Sunderland, has been selected as one of the most promising up-and-coming presenters in the country.
Through The Hits Radio, Bauer Media created an innovative competition which targeted student talent looking for a career break. Jordan was announced as the winner at the Student Radio Conference in Hertfordshire, due to the creative content of his show on Spark FM.
He is now recording four shows at Bauer’s studios in Manchester, which will go out across the nation on The Hits Radio over one month of Sundays, the first of which aired on Sunday.
Presenter Alex James, one of the competition judges, said: “The future of radio is out there but we recognise that it is now even tougher than ever before to break into. By working with our partners the Student Radio Association and What Goes On Media, we want to give Jordan the biggest career break possible.”
Jordan said: “I’m so excited. To come out top in the competition is amazing; to come out knowing that I’m going to be on a national radio station is unbelievable! From student radio to The Hits Radio in less than a week; I can’t wait!”
