A spectacular canalside show

This vibrant project looked back at two centuries of connection between the town and the rest of the world.

The production, Super High Way, included a puppetry performance by Marsden Heights Kids’ Group, directed by Oliver Daley from Burnley Youth Theatre and set to a piece of poetry on the changing seasons of the canal.

Marsden Heights Mums2Mums Group and spoken word artist Hafsah Bashir worked in collaboration to explore the connection forged with their families across the globe while a stunning piece of physical theatre on mill workers during the Industrial Revolution was presented by Burnley Young Carers and participants of The Knotted Project.

Ground-breaking parkour, choreographed by Brighton-based company Urban Playground and Burnley’s Free Runners, injected a dose of adrenaline into the show.

Audiences were also treated to music by Stoops Youth Group and producer Lee Affen while a photography exhibition by Burnley Youth Theatre’s INDRA Group completed the line-up.

The production, commissioned by Super Slow Way, took place on Sunday, November 6th.

Burnley Youth Theatre’s next event is a fund-raising fashion show offering high street style with a reduction of up to 75% off the retail price.

It takes place tonight, beginning at 7pm, at Burnley Arts Centre, Queen’s Park Road.
