There were spooky goings-on in Standish Street when witches and wizards landed for Hallowe’en.

Businesses banded together for the scary day when traders donned devilish outfits and encouraged shoppers to do the same.

Nixie Edwards, a partner in Sixty1a Design Studios on the street, said: “The day was fantastic. Everyone dressed for the occasion and there were some fantastic window displays.

“We organised this event to help get a bit of much-needed public interest into Standish Street, as an integral part of the Burnley community and the point of entry for many into the Burnley town centre markets and shops. We feel it is important we keep Standish Street thriving and remain as such, while helping to achieve a sense of community and loyalty to the Burnley area.

“We had lots of competitions including ‘find the Standish Street witch’ and a colouring competition for children. It was a great success.”
