A TEENAGE graphic designer from Read has landed two awards and his dream job straight from college.

Blackburn College student, Lewis Garforth (19) was named as the Creative Arts, Media and Music Student of the Year and received the subject’s Mark Carlin Award for Graphic Design at the college’s Creative Arts Awards.

Lewis has landed a job as junior graphic designer at Pendle Leisure Trust, after impressing interviewers with his portfolio.

The former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil said: “I’m so happy to have won not only one but two awards. The course was a lot of work but now it all seems worth it.

“I saw this position advertised, they were looking for a graduate or someone with two years’ experience, but I thought I’d give it a go anyway – luckily they were impressed by my work and confidence.

“I’m loving my job now and eventually I hope to open my own graphic design business with designers working for me.”
