YOUNG people and families have been getting crafty around canals this half-term, while learning about this important heritage.
The Waterways Trust has been running family workshops to help people of all ages learn more about canals including the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
Workshops have taken place across Burnley at the library, Burnley Campus, Canalside Association and the Chai Centre.
Artist Ellie Chaney helped young people and families to make canal boat models, canal notebooks, and canal-art inspired badges and stickers. The workshops are part of a two-year Heritage Lottery-funded project called the Burnley Canal Communities Project, that aims to get more people interested, involved and inspired by Burnley’s stretch of the canal. The workshops have also been supported by the Lancashire Libraries Service.
There will be more family workshops in libraries and venues across Burnley in the Easter holidays.
