A BURNLEY schoolgirl has danced her way to first place in a national competition.

Talented Georgia Aspinall (11), a Year 7 pupil at Blessed Trinity RC College, and her dance partner Lewis Frobisher (11), from Nelson, stole the show in the classic sequence dancing category at the British Champion Junior Festival held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

The duo, who train at Sanderson’s in Nelson, also scooped another first prize in a separate competition at the same venue.

Georgia’s mum Mrs Mary Aspinall said they beat of competition from across the UK to take the crown.

“Georgia has been dancing since she was six and she has been dancing with Lewis for two years. It’s a huge achievement for them,” she said.

Blessed Trinity teacher Mr Andrew Montrose added: “The school is very proud of her. Georgia is a model pupil and it’s nice to see her do well.”
