AN annual watercolour exhibition showcasing some of Burnley’s treasured landscapes has opened at Towneley Hall.
“Brushes with Nature” features paintings from the eclectic Towneley collection of art. Among the selection are pictures of landmarks Pendle Hill and Cliviger Gorge.
The exhibition also includes five paintings by Noel Leaver, who taught at Burnley School of Art until the 1930s. His view of Holme-in-Cliviger is on display, as are scenes from other parts of the country such as the Wye Valley and Sussex Downs.
The display was opened by Coun. John Harbour, Burnley Borough Council’s Executive member for leisure and culture. He said: “This latest exhibition will not disappoint, and we hope that many visitors will come along to see our latest offering.
“We have an interesting year of exhibitions at Towneley Hall, and the watercolours are going to get us off to a fine start.”
Visitors can see the watercolours until February 28th.
