Theatre students entertain crowds ahead of Queen’s visit to Burnley

PERFORMANCE: UcLan performance and theatre students act up in Burnley town centre

THEATRE students marked the Queen’s visit to Burnley by performing a short street production in the town centre.

The first year UcLan performance and theatre students performed the slapstick piece under the bandstand in St James’s Street, dressed as five characters representing different parts of society including the Queen.

Course lecturer Lorraine Jones said: “This was the last piece of work for the students this year and the stimulus was the royal visit.

“There was an element of slapstick and improvisation to the performance which was very well received.”

The students taking part were Kirstie Bates, Geraldine Heyworth, Ruth Stuart, Alicia Llewellyn and Ashley Sparks.
