Our Leader Times Stage Awards are the 25th this year – sponsored by businessman Mr Howard Rigg all along – so it is our Silver Anniversary this time!
Our awards were presented at the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre in Colne by our Group Editor Chris Daggett on Saturday, and the event was hosted funny actors Eric Beardsworth and Stuart James.
There was a whole series of performances in both musicals and plays, usually sampling both past and future productions.
And after that the Pendle Hippodrome Youth Theatre awards were presented, plus many trophies in memory of people who had been in the local amateur theatre and had passed away. Then Chris presented ours.
The performances had begun with The Garrick staging “Going all the Way” by Tony Cottrell, acted by Stephen Cooke and Andrea Cawley.
Three stars from Basics Junior Theatre School sang superbly again with songs from “Miss Saigon”. It was before they were named “Best Musical”.
St James’ Players gave a sample of “Say it was Flowers” which they performed in the 2013/14 season with lots of laughs.
And Pendle Hippodrome Youth Theatre sampled both last seasons “Bugsy Malone” and their forthcoming “High School Musical” which will be launched the Hippodrome at the end of October. There were great songs again.
