Irish Prime Minister's answer phone message: 'call my predecessor'

CALLERS trying to get hold of Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen have been redirected to his predecessor.
Three months after Mr Cowen took charge, callers to two numbers for the prime minister's office listed in Dublin's telephone directory were still being redirected to the previous incumbent, Mr Bertie Ahern.

"Thank you for calling the office of the Taoiseach (prime minister), however if you wish to call Bertie Ahern's constituency office, please ring ..." callers were informed in a recorded message.

Mr Ahern stepped down in May amid questions over his complex personal finances.
