A STREET ended up covered in filth after a road sweeping vehicle in Cambridegshire sprayed waste instead of sucking it up.
Cars, houses and people were coated in waste after the driver - on his first day at work - did not close a waste water flap on the truck.

He only realised his mistake when a motorist stopped him while his bosses at Fenland District Council have apologised and offered to compensate victims for cleaning bills and damaged clothes.

One woman shopper told how she was splattered from head-to-foot as she waited to cross the road on Monday and described how passers-by had their faces and clothes covered.

A spokesman for the council said: "We are really sorry about what happened. It was an accident and accidents happen. The road sweeper was incredibly apologetic when he realised what had happened."
