A confident performance saw Burnley Under 13s overcome Darwen in the final of the Lancashire Cup.
Darwen won the toss and chose to bat first. They started well and with two players retiring on 30 got off to a great start. Burnley were slow to get the first wicket but once they started they fell quickly. Adam Khan (4-2-2) and Ayaz Hussain (4-14-2)helped keep Darwen to 91.
Burnley took to batting well with Q Shah retiring on 33 and B Johnstone (20)quickly knocking off teh runs before A Khan hit a six to win it. Burnley (pictured) now proceed onto the National Club Championships.
Burnley Under 11s beat East Lancs in a close encounter. Harry Tomlinson and Zaeem Shah kept the East Lancs batters at bay as Ben Richardson (18 not out) and& Rehan Zore (12 not out) got Burnley over the line.
The Under 9s continued their progress with a good win against Darwen by 4 runs with notable contributions with the bat from Amaaz Hussain and Nat Stephenson. However the team lost out to East Lancs in their next match.
A newly formed team of local girls from both Burnley CC and Lowerhouse CC, along with new members, attended a girls cricket festival at Longridge CC.
Despite five of them only having trained once the girls beat Leigh CC before losing to Leyland. They came second and won medals.
