Students from local schools in Burnley - Hameldon, Shuttleworth and Ridgewood - recently took part in the Level 1 in Sports Leadership Course, led by Burnley Sports Development Officers Darren Wright and Waheed Rashid, and supported through the Young Peoples Service and Targeted Youth Support Panel.
The youngsters carried out various activities after school and developed key skills around communication, team building and self-confidence.
The ultimate aim of the course was for the participants to become Junior Sports Leaders, and all of them managed this with commitment and motivation.
Richard Burbery Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion at Hameldon Community College said: “All of the young people who took part were a credit to themselves.
“It will be great to see them use their new skills.”
Charlotte Burrows one of the participants from Hameldon added: “It has really helped me and I am very proud of what I have achieved. It will really help me on my future college course.”
