The prestigious Craig Heaton memorial cricket trophy, for the most improved player in all age groups of the Burnley and District teams, was presented to Qasim Shah at Burnley Cricket Club’s awards evening.

This presentation was a culmination of a season where Qasim, 12, who is in his first year at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Blackburn, and has represented Burnley and District Under 13s, Burnley seconds and thirds and Lancashire Under 13s.

Qasim is the 23rd recipient of the trophy and joins a long list of young cricketers, the majority of which have progressed to senior cricket, with a number having attained County standard.

Mr Heaton, who presented the trophy, thanks Burnley for allowing the trophy to be presented.
