Padiham Cricket Club’s future in the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale Cricket League Senior Division remains in the balance.

League officials have now called an EGM on Monday, September 2nd where representatives from each club will be given the opportunity to vote for or against the proposed relegation structure.

As it stands the Arbories outfit are rooted to the bottom of the table and face the prospect of having their place in the league usurped by Brinscall who currently head Division One by a solitary point.

“We’re still not completely sure about what is going on,” said Padiham skipper Callum Clarke. “As far as I know all the clubs will be given the chance to vote on the future.”

However, Clarke refuses to get embroiled on the subject and is instead focussed on matters on the field. Padiham travel to Settle tomorrow and face another away trip at Ribblesdale Wanderers on Sunday.

“We can only influence what we do on the field,” he said. “We’ve got two big away games and we need to pick up points. There’s still a chance to get out of it with seven games remaining.

“We are trying as hard as we can but, like Australia, we’ve lost that winning edge.”

Padiham will welcome Oliver Newby as sub pro this weekend as Chris Holt features for Cumbria though Anthony and Duncan Hall are unavailable.

Meanwhile, Read host Baxenden tomorrow and Euxton on Sunday, both games starting at 1-30 p.m.
