Padiham into quarter-final of Ramsbottom Cup

Padiham progressed to the quarter-finals of the Ramsbottom Cup after beating Cherry Tree 2-1 on a bowlout on Sunday.

With the tie rained off, the lottery of a bowlout was required, and the Arbories side held their nerve to progress.

They will now host Earby in the last eight on June 2nd.

The previous day, in the league, former professional Kashif Siddique came back to haunt Padham.

The Pakistani all-rounder claimed 6-40 as the visitors were bowled out for 98 at Chatburn Road.

Siddique then struck an unbeaten 43 as the home side won by five wickets to make Clitheroe the new Houldsworth Ribblesdale League leaders. as the 2006 double winners replaced Read as senior division table toppers.

Only three other games were played to a finish in the top division resulting in wins for Ribblesdale Wanderers, Great Harwood and Settle.
