Padiham face a promotion play-off on Sunday after finishing as runners-up in Section B of the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

Euxton’s two-wicket victory against Barnoldswick on Saturday confirmed the Balshaw Park outfit’s automatic promotion from Section B.

But Padiham kept them honest as they hammered Ribblesdale Wanderers by nine wickets.

Wanderers were knocked over for 32 at Church Meadow, before Callum Clarke’s men eased home for the loss of just one wicket.

Padiham will face either Cherry Tree or Ramsbottom Cup winners Oswaldtwistle Immanuel in the play-off, depending on who finishes in seventh place in Section A, with five points separating the clubs ahead of Saturday’s final fixtures.

A venue will also be decided in due course.

Meanwhile, Read finishes second in Section A behind Clitheroe, who completed a hat-trick of titles on Saturday.

Read are the only other side, from 2002-04, to have won three-successive league crowns.

Read sat out the first part of the weekend double header, before, on Sunday, taking on the champions.

Clitheroe racked up a total of 288-7, as former captain Neil Bolton hit 103, and professional Janaka Guneratne made 94.

In reply, Read were dismissed for 122 as Guneratne completed a man of the match display with 8-57.
