Padiham suffered a huge setback in their bid to climb away from the bottom two of the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League table on Saturday.
The Arbories side, bottom of the table, were looking to leapfrog second bottom Euxton at home.
But, instead, their plight worsened courtesy of a 59-run defeat against the Chorley-based newcomers.
Padiham professional Chris Holt did his bit, taking 5-80 as Euxton finished their overs on 198-9.
But in reply, Padiham were dismissed for just 139, and they are now 18 points adrift of safety, with seven games remaining.
Cherry Tree joined Padiham in the bottom two after a 100-run defeat against Settle, who replaced Read in third place.
Read were well beaten at Oswaldtwistle, where Lewis Mildenhall struck an unbeaten 82 towards a winning score of 168-2, after Read were dismissed for 167.
This weekend, Read host Baxenden on Saturday and Euxton on Sunday, while Padiham go in search of points at Settle on Saturday, and at Ribblesdale on Sunday.
