CALLUM Clarke is the new Padiham Cricket Club first team captain.
Clarke takes over from John Bushell, who has stepped down due to work commitments, but will be playing when possible.
Padiham finished seventh in the Ribblesdale League Senior Division this year, and are confident of progress having kept hold of professional Chris Holt (pictured).
Clarke said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge and feel privileged to captain such a great club.
“Chris Holt has re-signed as professional, which is a huge boost for the club as he had a range of offers on the table from various leagues, so we will be starting the season on a positive note.”
Last season Holt hit 572 runs in the league, on top of his 95 wickets - the second best haul in the league behind champions Barnoldswick’s professional Imran Khalid, who claimed 103.
Meanwhile, Neil Anderson will remain as second team captain, and Rhys Meehan is the new third team skipper.
Club stalwart Brian Shirtcliffe - who has spent over 60 years at Padiham as player, secretary, treasurer, chairman and groundsman - has been made a Life Member of the Ribblesdale League.
Padiham Cricket Club host a dinner-dance at Turf Moor on Saturday, February 9th.
Priced at £30 per person, the cost includes a three-course meal, live entertainment, raffles, auctions and a disco.
