St Andrew’s recapture their crown

St Andrew’s are again North West 10 Reds snooker champions!

In a tense final against Nelson’s Alexandra 1, St Andrew’s triumphed 4-3 in an epic night of snooker.

Lee Sharples set the trend and won the first frame - only for the Alexandera to level the match at 1-1.

Wayne Cotterill responded in the next frame with a superb break of 42 to seal a 2-1 lead, only for Alex to level at 2-2.

Alexandra took the next frame to go into a 3-2 lead - one frame from victory.

St Andrew’s Eric Catlow then responded with a telling 32 break to level the match at 3-3.

With tensions mounting and all to play for, it was a case of deja vu as super sub Jimmy Allan came on and played a controlled game in the final frame to beat Andy Cairns and regain the title after winning it in 2009.

St Andrew’s captain Duncan McNally thanked the Claremont Club in Blackpool, sponsors and referee John Timperley for a fantastic set up.
