A LOCAL man has been inspired by the World Cup to set up a new football team.
Jak Gouch, 22, of Barrowford Road, Colne, has set the ball rolling to form a team which will be part of the Pendle Charity League come September.
The new team, Colne Town, will be made up of 15 local lads aged between 18-28, who are all friends of Gouch and live around the Pendle area.
Gouch, who works at Aerospace as a precision engineer, said: "One day we just decided that there were enough of us to make up a team, and we all love football, especially with the world cup coming up. It's good to be a part of something."
His close friend, Ross Walker of Holme Street, Trawden, has helped to set up the team.
A skilled joiner, Ross has spent his spare time helping with the strip.
The boys have decided on a yellow shirt, with inspiration coming from World Cup contenders Brazil, with blue shorts and blue socks.
Father John Gouch, who has his own local building and plumbing business, has agreed to sponsor the newly-formed team.
"Everyone enjoys football so I wanted to be a part of their success." said John.
Colne Town's home pitch will be at Holt House playing fields, Colne.
