YOUNG Oaghey Jones has added his name to the growing list of boxing starlets at Burnley’s Roche Amateur Boxing Club.

Club coach Brian Roche has an army of young guns at his disposal - many of them heading for stardom inside the ring - and it was the 11-year-old protégé who was the latest to impress.

Oaghey sailed through to the national semi-finals following a dominant display over Shilsden ABC foe Ethan Swailes at Gorton’s Centre of Excellence in Manchester.

His opponent had four knockouts to his name from six fights, but Oaghey showed him zero respect with a punishing yet classy display.

He will fight for a place in the final this weekend at the same venue.

Roche said: “He’s won all four of his fights now

“Oaghey boxed his head off and gave his opponent a great boxing lesson.

“He’s a real classy boxer and he’s got a great chance of winning it.”
