Unity College are celebrating the achievement of four female pupils in making the county rugby squads.
Selection for the girls’ Under 18, 15 and 13 Lancashire rugby squads took place recently at Eccles Rugby Club.
Emma Wall and Polly Bell, both Year 11, represented the U15s last season, and this season have secured a place in the Under 18 squad - no small feat considering this is their first season in this age group.
Both girls, who play in the second row, will now go on to represent the county.
Willow Bell, Year 8, and younger sister of Polly, who technically should be representing the Under 13s, was selected to play for the Under 15s team, as was Cerys Ellis, Year 10, who endured the trials with a fractured nose!
Mr Williams, the girls’ rugby teacher at Unity College, is tremendously proud of how the girls have performed, and will be following their progress with interest.
The next rugby world cup could see Polly and Emma contesting for places at a national level!
