• THIS week saw members of Whalley Golf Club compete in a a single medal competition. The blustery and miserable conditions made scoring really tricky. The winner on the day was Paul Irwin with a well-crafted round of 89-19-70.
Second place went to Graham Langlands (78-7-71) and third Peter Fletcher (80-8-72).
There were four recorded two’s going to A. Walker, S. Shoreman, R. Ellis, and J. Spencer.
The ladies at Whalley held their annual Lady Captain v Lady Secretary Match. Due to heavy rain and difficult playing conditions, the 18-hole match was reduced to nine. Lady Captain’s team, led by Ann Pollard, were in good form and were deserved winners.
