St Andrew’s Eric Catlow then responded with a telling 32 break to level the match at 3-3.
With tensions mounting and all to play for, it was a case of deja vu as super sub Jimmy Allan came on and played a controlled game in the final frame to beat Andy Cairns and regain the title after winning it in 2009.
St Andrew’s captain Duncan McNally thanked the Claremont Club in Blackpool, sponsors and referee John Timperley for a fantastic set up.
