The St Peter’s Centre is making a racket this year, with a new league for enthusiastic squash players in the area.

To celebrate the launch of the new league, founders Jonny Dyer and Brendan Spencer Hall are joining up with Burnley Council’s Sport and Play development team to have an open night for Squash enthusiasts across the borough.

The St Peter’s Squash and Racketball Club free open night will take place on Thursday, at 7pm at the St Peter’s Centre, and will be a chance for newcomers to have a few games and get to know each other.

If you have a passion for racket sports, fancied getting fitter, or want to meet new people, why not come along and talk to experienced players about what you can get out of the league?

Dave Scurlock, England Squash and racketball coach, will hopefully also be attending to give players tips and advice.

Open to players of all ages and abilities, the new Squash Box League begins on Tuesday, and will involve groups of four or fiveplayers playing against each other for promotion or relegation.

The league aims to help players find a comfortable level of playing at, play new people, improve their game and most importantly have fun.

Please come along to the launch if you are interested in joining up, and you will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a racket worth £80, thanks to a kind donation by Cocker Sports.

For more information please email spsrc@hotmail.co.uk if you wish to join the league but cannot attend the launch, including your contact details.
