Five Sandygate ABC boxers saw action last week.

North West Minors champion “Smokin’” Joe Crawford (12) remains unbeaten in seven contests this season after a 29-28 points victory over Irish champion T.Monaghan (Cashel BC) at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel.

Crawford connected, covered and countered the whole first round, and the second saw his superior ringcraft apparent.

The third was to the Celtic man’s, as he came out in aggressive mood, but, weathering the advances, Crawford held his ground.

“Pretty-Boy” Bram Richmond (11) and Jaden “J-Dogg” Haworth-Franklin (12) made the short journey to Chorley Town Hall to box on the Jennings ABC show.

Cliviger’s Richmond was matched in a non-verdict skills Bout against R.Amies (Jennings ABC), with the Blessed Trinity Year 8 pupil dominating proceedings.

Unity College Year 7 pupil Haworth-Franklin faced C.Bailey (Jennings ABC) , and started with aggression and precision, carrying on in the second and third rounds for a unanimous 30-27 verdict.

Saturday was the England Boxing Junior Pre-Quarter Finals at The Irish Centre, Birmingham which saw the North West champions squared up against their Midlands Counties counterparts.

Sandygate’s NW champion James “Elvis” Danson (14) beat T.Chabvuta (Willenhall ABC) 30-26 at 63kg.

He bossed the first two rounds, and the third turned into a slug fest, with Danson prevailing.

And, boxing at 75kg, Reagan Driver (15) lost out narrowly to last year’s National Champion B. Jones (Wayne Elcocks ABC) in a great contest.
