Sandygate show a success

Burnley's Sandygate Amateur Boxing Club held their first show of the season at The Mechanics, in what turned out to be another sell-out success.

First up for Sandygate was Stuart “Rocket” Reilly (11) in a skills bouts against T. Watson (Carlisle ABC), which saw Reilly put in a dominant display.

Blessed Trinity’s Elliot Littlefair (11) narrowly lost out in a split decision against K. Frimpong (Stockport ABC), as did Unity’s Dalton Stoiles (11) against B. Miller (Carlisle ABC).

Both Sandygate boxers showed great workrate and composure.

North West Schoolboy shampion Sulaiman “Magic” Malik (14) got the Burnley club back to winning ways against T. Pownall (Sale ABC), controlling all three rounds with his long lead jab.

Hasan Khan (13) boxed in a real close affair with fellow North West champion A. Earnshaw (Hamer ABC).

“Mad” Max Turner (16) made his ring debut against T. Jackson (Jennings ABC), winning every round, as he also picked up the Boxer of the Night mantle.

Reagan Driver (18) lost out on a split decision to E. Orchard (Greaves ABC).

North West Junior champion Ryan Haythornthwaite (16) faced A. Murphy (Eccles ABC) and won every round.

Sandygate boxers are also boxing in the NBGC Championships, with Sam Walsh (15) boxing Sunday in the Regional Final hoping to join stable mates Barney Stokes (15) & Ryan Haythornthwaite (16) in the National Stages.
