Sandygate boxers treat punters at Mechanics

Over 400 fight fans enjoyed a treat at Sandygate’s home show at Burnley Mechanics on Good Friday.

Before the competitive bouts were three non-contest skills bouts featuring the clubs newest talents.

Sam “Butcher” Walsh (13) put on a dominant display against E.McKenna (Paramount), Soliman “Prince” Malik (13) controlled proceedings against U.Abdur-Rahman (Stockport), and Zak “Paolo” Bailey (10) boxed A.Gates (Sale West) and also impressed.

Bram “Pretty-Boy” Richmond (12) earned a unanimous verdict against A.Maddocks (Wildcard), on his debut, and unbeaten Rio “DJ” Lynch (11) earned the boxer of the night mantle as he beat C, Smith (Wednesbury).

Hassan “King” Khan (11) narrowly lost a split decision against R.Aimes (Jennings), as did “Smokin’” Joe Crawford (12) against B.Smith (Wednesbury).

North West Junior Champion James “Elvis” Danson (14) earned a TKO in the third against N.Rychel (Wednesbury), but Jaden “J-Dogg” Howarth Franklin (12) was the wrong side of a split result against K.Wharburton (Northside).

“Hurricane” Harvey Fletcher (13) extended his unbeaten record against Hull’s K.Ayku (St.Paul’s), and Reiko “Riot” Rickwood (13) just missed out in a close contest against Southpaw T.Rowen (Moss Side).

England champion Brendan “Bam-Bam” Collins (16) beat M.Ballie (Littleborough ABC)in the bout of the night, but Brett Windle (16) lost a rematch with B.Khalil (Stockport ABC).

Unbeaten Senior Reece Farnhill (17) ended the sell-out show against C.Brooks (Eccles ABC), winning by a unanimous verdict.
