Sandygate ABC’s James “Kimbo” Kimberley graced the squared circle for his first outing of the season in Selby.
The 12-year-old took on Beck Emery (Mickeys Boxing Academy ABC), and it was worth the travel East.
Straight from the opening bell he dominated, with his long reach causing the home fighter all sorts of problems, and after a heavy barrage of combinations the referee had no choice but to administer a standing eight-count just before the bell.
The second and third saw last year’s ABA Minors Finalist take control once more with a classic display of boxing, giving judges ringside a easy decision, with all awarding the Holmes Street boxer every round unanimously.
Coach Nik Tucker beamed: “James could have stopped the lad in the first, but we really wanted the rounds under his belt, and he stuck to the game plan to box not brawl.”
