A party of 24 from Burnley Rugby Club’s Junior Colts, including coaches and parents, recently returned from a visit to Cologne, Germany.
Highlights of the visit included going the Commonwealth Cemetery in Cologne and paying their respects to the fallen of both World Wars.
They played the Octopus club in Uden, winning 43-12 with tries from Elliott Gaughan, George Hibbert, Jack Donovan , Richard Birchall, Gareth Gregory, Dom Murphy and Cas Wilson, and conversions from Matthew Ford-Lee and Matthew Middleton.
The second team commenced their league programme with a hard-fought draw at Eccles . Joe Till scored Burnley’s try and skipper Gus Ferguson converted.Matt Higson was man of the match and there were fine debuts from Sam Bithell and James Henderson.
The Under 17s went down to Stonyhurst College on Saturday, before, on Sunday losing to a very good Kendal side.
Fly half Hodgeson was the pick of the side.
