BAMMA’S undisputed World lightweight champion Rob Sinclair is hellbent on achieving his next career goal of taking the Bellator belt.

With Clitheroe UFC star Michael Bisping’s ambitions of usurping Anderson Silva dampening, Sinclair is determined to become the first Brit to be crowned champion of a major MMA organisation.

The 33-year-old, known as C4, was snapped up alongside fellow Englishmen Paul Sass and training partner Martin Stapleton following Talent Development Director Zach Light’s scouting expedition. And he’ll join a burgeoning crop of athletes with former UFC champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Randy Couture, Cheick Kongo, Paul Daley, Marcus Davis and Paul Saff already on Bellator’s books.

“The competition over there is tough because you’re fighting world class athletes,” Sinclair said. “I’ve always set goals in my career and succeeded and now I want to become Bellator champion so I’m hoping history repeats itself.”

The explosive Burnley fighter will make his debut in Season Nine in September where he’ll have to win the eight-man tournament to earn a shot at champion Michael Chandler.

Sinclair, whose partner Georgia Hartley is expecting the couple’s second child in August, said: “I’m determined to achieve something that no Brit has done in the history of the sport.

“This is a massive opportunity and I’m sacrificing a lot for it. My girlfriend is expecting in August so there’s a chance I could miss the birth. It’s a big deal but the publicity and exposure I’ll get is great for my profile and career.”

Sinclair added: “I know I’m capable. I defended my BAMMA title four times against decent opposition so I’ve got a chance. Now’s the time. I’m fitter and stronger than ever and I’m more determined. ”

Sinclair would like to thank Glenn Slater, Soulmate Food, Real Nutrition Co, XLCR, Funky Gums, Smuggling Duds, Bad Boy, the Perform Centre and Predators MMA for their continued sponsorship and support.
