There were big wins for Ridgewood School in the SPAR Lancashire School Games Disability Swimming Gala event.
The boys’ team scooped gold in the Key Stage 3 breaststroke, backstroke, 50m crawl and 25m relay events.
The boys also managed silver in the Key Stage 3 50m crawl and backstroke, and Ridgewood also took bronze in the Severe Learning Disability (SLD) Gala beginners’ category.
Hundreds of primary and secondary school pupils from across Lancashire met at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre in Lancaster last month to compete at the event, which is part of the national £128m School Games programme, aimed at motivating and inspiring millions of young people to take part in competitive school sport.
The SPAR Lancashire School Games is organised by Lancashire Sport Partnership’s Lancashire Organising Committee (LOC), supported by School Games Organisers (SGOs) and sponsored by James Hall & Company Ltd, the SPAR distributors for the North of England.
Richard Varey, Chair of the Lancashire School Games organising committee and Burnley’s Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College Head Teacher, said: “Congratulations to all the winners at the SPAR Lancashire School Games Disability Swimming Gala. There was a great deal of hard work and determination on display, so a big well done to all those who took part.”
