It was a case of purple reign at the open four-man team event at Towneley Golf Club on Sunday.

A team from Towneley won with a total of 98 points - The Young Guns, Neil Jackson, Daniel Haslam, George Rae and Steve Wynne - all dressed in purple, the only team to wear matching outfits, which clearly impressed Lee Westwood, who later retweeted the picture!

The team won by three points from Dave Sedgewick’s Old Codgers team with a total of 94 points - Albert Trickett, Sedgewick, Steve McLean and J. Aspinall.

Dean Pickard was in tremendous form at Towneley at the weekend, with an excellent card of 65-3-62 capturing the Towneley Chalice.

Assistant greenkeeper Billy Thompson was runner-up with 82-18-64.

Nearest the pin awards went to Hamish Miller at the sixth and Brian Taylor at the 17th.

The Tuesday Stableford was won by David Harrison on 40 points, who beat Steve Horrocks on the card, and the Thursday winner was Tommy Fallows, also on the card, from Danny Haslam, with both players scoring 42 points.

Meanwhile, Roy Catlow has received a limited-edition BOSS watch after scoring a hole-in-one during a recent competition at Towneley on the 136-yard, par-three sixth.
