Burnley Gymnastics Club recently announced their Gymnasts of the Month for April.
Individuals were all nominated by their coaches and winners were decided at the coaches’ meeting.
These awards are given based on effort, determination and any special achievements or challenges that were overcome that month.
The monthly rewards are a great way to recognise not just outstanding talent, but those that are showing a great attitude to developing their gymnastics skills.
The club, based at the BEST Centre on Network 65. have also recently started awarding the British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards, which start at Level 8 and go through to Gold.
Head coach Kim Sharples said: “These gymnasts have shown great commitment to succeed and learn new skills.
“The monthly awards are something we have started alongside the BG Proficiency Awards.”
The winners are as follows: At advanced level, Hannah Falconer, who attends various sessions, was gymnast of the month.
The improver award was awarded to Abigail Little, who attends on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
The junior gym award was presented to Taylor De Vries, who takes classes on Mondays and Saturdays.
Lucy Lodge, who attends the gym on Wednesdays, won a Level 1 award.
Kira Pickles, also a Wednesday gymnast, won an entry level award.
And there was a boys’ award for Thomas Pythian, who attends classes on Tuesdays.
The centre has an excellent range of equipment, recently boosted by the arrival of some of the equipment used at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
