Towneley Community Tennis Club have recenly become the First non-city tennis club in the country to become an Official Tennis For Free Site.

The official opening (pictured) of the Towneley Community Tennis Club took place recently, as club chairman Paul Wheatcroft cut the ceremonial ribbon.

The prestigious honour was made possible through the hard work of head tennis coach Iain Taylor.

Taylor was recently voted by his peers as the Lacashire Lawn Tennis Coach of the year, receiving his award at the Bolton Arena.

He is not alone among the club’s committee in boasting great tennis experience and knowhow, with the likes of Judith Denson, Wheatcroft and Carl Denson.

The club also thank those who gladly volunteered to put their time and effort into the cause, and without whom the club would have struggled to get going as quickly as it has - people like Michelle Tootle, Liam Taylor and Daniel Moorhouse.

The club recently celebrated their first-ever win for their Open League Team, away to Burnley E, whitewashing their opponents 5-0.

Daniel Taylor and Matthew Hargreaves, Iain Taylor and Liam Taylor won two rubbers each.
