Burnley Basketball Club’s Under 16s National League adventure started on Saturday at home against East Manchester Rebels.

At the end of the quarter the Rebels were ahead 25-9 and it was only in the second quarter that Burnley finally woke up.

Tom Fairbairn was in fine form in offence and defence and rallied the troops with a strong display, racking some good points and some fouls as well.

At half way, Rebels were ahead 38-28 but with Burnley looking very good.

Manchester Rebels did not stop attacking Burnley though and by the end of the third quarter, they were ahead 67-45.

The end result saw Rebels winning 89-61 despite a very good performance from the locals.

Coach Giulio Minozzi said: “The boys played very well when we decided to play. We were nervous to start with and we fouled too many times where it did not matter.

“I can take a lot of positives from this game, we press really well, we scored with ease when the movement was good and we defended OK.
