And it is going to take play-offs to find the eventual winners of both trophies!
Steve Turner and Steve Wynne both had cards of plus four in the Grimshaw Cup, with Dave Windle and new member M. Sullivan scoring plus six to fight it out for the Handicap Cup.
Nearest the pin awards went to Stan Boardman at the sixth hole, and Dave Horan at the 17th.
The first midweek stablefords also took place, with Worsthorne’s Ian Howarth coming top of the pile with 41 points, followed by Nat Horsefall with 34 on the Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Simon Paul Smith’s 39 points took the plaudits, with runner-up A. Getty three points adrift.
• The four successful qualifiers to represent Whalley in the team and individual ELGA competition at Baxenden in May are John Heap, Kevin Moore, Matt Bartle and Howard Walmsley.
