Paul Hurst beat Steve Wynne in a play-off to capture the H.N. Alderson Trophy at Towneley Golf Club.

Hurst carded a nett score ot 69 to Wynne’s 71, to secure a first major win at the club.

New member Andy Dibb had a tremendous round of 79-133-66 to win the John Smith’s Trophy, with Peter S. Jackson second (83-16-67) and Jonathan Turner (78-11-67) third.

At Burnley, the Les Samuels Gold Medal was held, and the winner of the gross prize was Ben Scott’s 70.

The nett prize went to Darren Coulthard’s 81-12-69, one shot better than Tim Griffiths (82-12-70), with Mark Ridgway (76-4-72) third.

The subsidiary prize was won by Neville Stott (82-13-69) on a card play-0ff from Harvey Spence (81-12-69), with Phil Smith (90-21-69) third, also after cards.

Lowest gross was Darren Jennings’ 78-8-70.

The ladies’ Autumn Stableford was won by Lynda Wills with 34 points from Lynda Makin (32), with Marilyn Chrimes (29) third.
