Over 100 competitors from the age of seven upwards braved the torrential rain to compete in the recent Padiham Aquathlon.

The event swim was based at Padiham leisure centre, while the run was from the Padiham Greenway.

The organisers pleased with the number of young children competing, while it was also pleasing that a number of first timers and novices took part in the adult race.

The Adults completed over a 600 metre swim (24 lengths) and a 5,000 metre run, with the juniors racing over shorter age- appropriate distances.

Andrew Woodward of Blackpool Aquatics Tri Club won the senior event, while the 12-13-years event was won by Will Smith of Ricmond Tri Kudu.

Faye Bayman won the 10-11-years competition, and the 8-9-years’ category was won by Maxwell Hereward.
