Neil in form at Towneley Golf Club

Assistant Greenkeeper at Towneley Golf Club, Neil Jackson, was in impressive form at the weekend, capturing the prestigious Express Cup with an excellent score of +6.

Veteran Dave Horan was runner-up (+5).

Matt Harrison recorded his first-ever hole in one when he aced the 17th hole.

The previous week, the Monthly Medal took place.

In Division One, Nick Lancaster took the plaudits with 77-10-67, with Antony Fisher runner-up (74-11-63).

Danny Turner claimed top place in Division Two (81-13-68), and second spot went to David Harrison (82-13-69).

Division Three winner was Rob Wilson (87-20-67), and Alan Hicks’ score of 88-20-68 took the runners-up spot.

Nigel Clark won the Tuesday Stableford with 40 points, with David Harrison the runner-up, a point adrift.

Gary Turner came top of the field on the Thursday with 34 points, one ahead of Graham Varley with 33 points.

• At Burnley Golf Club, the first Monthly Medal was played on Saturday.

Division One winner was Matt Maguire (69-3-66), from Shaun Makin (73-6-67), with Gary Blades (68-1-67) third on the card.

Division Two went to Bill Robinson (79-11-68) after cards from Steve Chapman (79-11-68), with Andrew Heaton (80-10-70) third.

In Division Three, Allister Horrocks (80-14-66) took the honours from Martin Clegg (84-14-70) and Tony Bamford (87-16-71), and Ronnie Cook won Division Four (92-24-68) from Phil Moore (90-20-70) and David Hodgson (92-22-70).

Lady Captain Lynda Wills came through to win the first Major competition of the season, the Slater Brooch with 93-18-75, from Lynda Makin (106-29-77).
