Burnley Tornados they took on Woodham Warriors and Standish Raiders in the first tournament of the season at the Prairie.

The first game saw Woodham playing Standish, giving the rookie Burnley team chance to see how a game is played. Woodham came out winners at 24-12.

Following a short break, Burnley enjoyed a hard-fought game against Woodham - having been the only side to beat the Warriors last season.

However, it wasn’t to be. Although a great performance was put on by captains Callum Doherty and James Macken to steady the rookies. Flynn Griffith and Gino Bradshaw scored all the Tornados’ points as they went down 43-33.

After another short break the Tornados were back on the field against Standish. Griffith and Bradshaw were again among the points, with Paddy Berkins adding to the score, while rookie Max Mallelieu-Black scored his first touchdown.

At the half Burnley were comfortably ahead at 31-13. The second half for the Tornados was more a defensive game, but they managed to score another two touchdowns through Berkins and Griffith, leaving the game to finish at 42-28.
