Burnley Rugby Club’s Martin Evans recently won an award from Lancashire RFU for his long service to the club, and, in particular, their thriving junior section.

Over the years, Martin has been a tag coach, first aid man, organised numerous events and is currently Under 17 Colts manager, junior section vice chairman and treasurer, as well as often being match day chef!

He is often taken for granted as are many people in clubs up and down the country who put their heart and soul into the clubs they serve .

The club would like to thank Martin for his commitment and dogged persistence and hard work over the years.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s junior section recently held their end of season awards.

The club house was full to capacity as members, players and volunteers celebrated another successful season for the Holden Road club.

Presenting the awards were Sale Sharks players Hendre Fourie and Rob Millar, who also answered questions and posed for photographs.

Each Tuesday there will be summer touch rugby at the club commencing at 7 p.m., tailored for over 16s of both sexes, with no experience necessary.

Senior rugby training has also recommenced.
