Keith Thompson wins latest round at Towneley Golf Club

KEITH Thompson won the most recent round of Towneley Golf Club’s Winter League competition.

His tally of 42 points was good enough to earn the plaudits.

Bob McGlynn was runner-up on 41 points, with Jim Hughes in third place with 40.

Danny Turner’s total of 46 points is still the best score in the competition this season.

Headmaster Steve Bird is the new league leader with 383, with Anthony Hargreaves second with 378, and Gary Turner third, also on 378.

Paul Cushing won the nearest the pin award at the sixth hole, with Steve Turner winning at the 17th.

Ian Carruthers’ incredible total of 47 points won him the Bogey Lake competition.

The popular member is getting back to full fitness after recovering from a serious illness.

Previously, Dave Windle’s 44 points gave him victory in the Winter League, with Tommy “Dagger” Fallows runner-up on the card, and Jim Hughes, also on 44 points, third.

Nearest the pin awards in that round went to Ian “Stan” Boardman and Drew Slater and the sixth and 17th holes respectively.

Prior to that, Turner’s aforementioned 46 points saw him come top of the field, ahead of veteran Dave Horan, second on the card from Boardman, both players with 44 points.

Nearest the pin awards went to Brian “The Beast” Taylor at the sixth hole, and Gary Chadwick at the 17th.
