Karate champion starts Burnley training sessions

NICK Keys has earned a hat-trick of karate medals.

He entered the North East open karate championships in South Shields last month, gaining a silver medal in the masters kumite event, and gold in the men’s senior team event, beating team Sokudo in the final.

Nick also has just returned with a bronze medal from the JKS Irish championships in Dublin.

Nick is a 4th dan in Shotokan karate and also the current North West masters champion and British silver medalist, and is now preparing for the WUKF European Karate Championships next June.

The next competition for Burnley Shotokan Karate Academy is the AMA/ITKA Liverpool open on January 22nd, and the AMA international championships held in Sheffield in February.

Nick has now opened a new karate club at the Spirit of Sport centre in Ormerod Road, Burnley.

With guest instructor, 12-times English champion and WKF World silver medalist Cain Canning taking some training sessions early next year.
