St Peter’s Burnley went down 4-1 at leaders David Lloyd Bolton in the North West Counties Squash League.

The match started with two defeats, one against the veteran Ron Darlington and the other against the ever-improving Daniel Whittaker.

Next on court was Paul Thomson, making his debut for St Peter’s, who started well, winning the first game, but allowed his opponent to draw level. He was on top, looking set for a win, but then disaster struck as he lunged for a drop shot and pulled a hamstring, forcing him to concede the match.

Scott Wise started his game with a brilliant hard drive down the side wall which his opponent did well to get back in play, but as Scott went in to take the return he too pulled a muscle, this time his calf and also had to concede the match.

It was then left to the St Peter’s No 1 Rod Taggart to save the whitewash. Rod comfortably won 3-0 thus keeping his 100% record.
