Sandygate ABC prospect “Hurricane” Harvey Fletcher (13) pitted his skills against fellow unbeaten fighter J.Fawthrop (Halifax ABC) in his own back yard.

It was billed as a show stopper and it certainly lived up to that. From the opening bell, both cautiously felt each other out with lead hand jabs.

Once finding range, Fletcher started to dominate, catching the taller Fawthrop with his lead rear combinations.

The second round was the Unity College Year 8 pupil’s best as he again kept centre, boxing with straight, powerful lead rear hands, covering and countering every advance.

The third and final round saw the Halifax boxer try and push forward but the Burnley boxer wasn’t fazed and took a unanimous verdict.

Saturday saw the return of the ring of 2014 North West champion Brett Windle (16) against B.Kahil (Bredbury & Stockport ABC) at The Lighthouse, Salford.

Straight from the bell Windle’s height disadvantage was apparent, but he closing the ring down, working under the jab with great effect.

The second saw the Gannow lad’s lead widen, and the last round again saw Windle work the body, earning another unanimous decision.
