Huge medal haul for buoyant Burnley Bobcat swimmers

Burnley Bobcats squad won 27 medals and set five new records at the 4th Future Stars Mee at the Wigan Life Centre.

All swimmers put in some great individual swims resulting in Bobcats finishing eighth out of 32.

William Beaven (16), Katie Rennolds (16) and Harry Pilkington (13) all had a good weekend, setting new Future Stars records during the two day event. William won gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle events and achieved new records in both. He also won gold in the 50m breaststroke, bronze in the 100m breaststroke, and finally silver in the 200m freestyle event.

Harry was also on top form setting three new Future Stars records in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. He came away with eight medals in total, gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, 50m and 100m freestyle; silver medals in the 400m freestyle, 60m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Katie Rennolds (16) won six medals in total, gold in the 400m freestyle with a new Future Stars record, silver in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, and bronze in the 50m and 200m butterfly events.

Other medallists over the weekend were 11-year-olds Lily Duckworth and Mia Sheridan. Lily won gold medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, bronze in the 100m freestyle, while Mia picked up a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.

Joshua Lambert (15) won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle and a silver medal in the 200m butterfly; Elliot Norman (13) winning a bronze in the 100m butterfly and Thomas Mackay (14) winning a silver in the 50m breaststroke event.

Other swimmers who achieve their personal bests were Saffron Fenton, Kerry Holding, Colette Meade, Grace Pickles, Abigail Procter, Hannah Procter, Ellie Taylor and Jamie Sharpley.
