Sandygate ABC hit the road again last week with a trio of triumphant boxers in tow.

First up for the Burnley club was Rio “DJ” Lynch against K.Morley (Clayton ABC).

Straight from the opening bell, the 10-year-old took total control of the bout dominating centre and hitting the target area relentlessly.

The second didn’t last the duration as the Stoops Estate prospect threw a perfect uppercut, resulting in the referee stopping the bout instantly.

Next up at the show at the Dunkunhalgh Hotel, was “Padiham Power Station” Brandon Hartley (17) in a return contest with Rochdale’s A. Yasim-Butt (Hamer ABC).

The first round was a cagey affair as Hartley kept centre, countering every advance, and the second saw the Burnley College student take control, pushing Yasin-Butt onto the back foot, making good use of his jab.

The third and final was Hartley’s best as he racked up the points, connecting with ease, earning an unanimous verdict.

“Bam-Bam” Brendan Collins (14) pitted his wits against unbeaten J. Turner (Halifax ABC) at the Hebden Bridge ABC show at Mytholmroyd Community Centre.

The first round saw why both young boys are tipped to progress. Collins covered any advances well, replying with a measured response, connecting well while keeping centre.

The second saw the Shuttleworth pupil find his range, connecting with his lead hand-hook to the body combinations, forcing the durable Turner onto the back foot.

The third and final saw Collins increase his work rate, scoring very well with each wave of attack, to see his hand raised as the winner with a well-earned majority verdict.
