At the Burnley Schools’ Gymnastics Competition Hameldon Community College were again crowned town champions!
In the Level 2 competition, with a full team of 10 gymnasts, Hameldon excelled in their seven element routines.
As the points were totalled, the Coal Clough Lane school achieved the highest team score to claim gold. The team was Amber Anders (8.1), Natasha Henderson (8.0), Ellie Lunt (7.9), Meyer Hill, Abbie Oldfield, Shannon Grimshaw-Lord, Emily Dewhurst, Lucy Ashworth, Beth Drinkwater, and Georgina Cattermole – all Year 8 students.
At Level 3, Hameldon had three individual gymnasts, and, after an outstanding performance from Holly Jackson, she was awarded the Level 3 individual gold medal.
The other gymnasts were Year 10 students Bianca Heap and Natalie Brearley.
At Level 4, Year 9 student Aimee Mottershead won the individual silver medal.
Hamedon were also bronze medal winners in the Level 1 team competition, with the team consisting of Angelica Scott Robinson (9.0), Charlie Tattersall, Sinead Nichol, Skye Hindle, Phoebe Pounder, Danielle Sproule, Tamsila Hussain, Holly Harling and Niamh Hill – Years 7 and 8 students.
A total of 75 students competed in total, with 25 from Hameldon, including judge runners Amy Halawi and Jade Halliday.
